WTB spinning reel...
Looking for a spinning reel for my 9ft surf rod. I would need something in the 5000-6000 series size. Penn, higher end shimano, or quantum in the 50-60 size......maybe a VS150-200  Let me know.....Thanks, Mike

Re: WTB spinning reel...
I don't think either one could handle that kind of use :affraid: ...ZBass are too small for my hands. My knuckles almost hit the rotor....I could see whacking my knuckles on a November day while I am fishing a Nor' Easter....No thanks. Would reallly like a VSBjoesfishinproblem wrote:get both and give me one to use lol

Joe, not really sure what the older Penn stuff is worth. I guess something in the 6500 size. I'm not sure what that size is in the 700 series. I would like something that is mint or close to it.

Joe, I think those may be too big for my 9ft'er. I keep them in mind though.

Go4broke, nice reel but I don't like skirt-less spools.

Re: WTB spinning reel...
Go for the bucks get a VS 200 and kick the crap out of it like i do. Penns take it but nothing holds up like a VS i know 5 people that have had their Z's break what an expensive peice of junk lol. Good luck on your hunt if you got Penn go 704 706 bailess if you go bailed 704 or 650-6500 all great on a 9 or 10 foot rod.

Re: WTB spinning reel...
Screw Zee Baas .. First they had so many problems last season and for a 1000 reel it should be bullet proof ..
VS is the way to go , i cant use any other reels now ..
a 200 can go on a Ft to a 11 ft ..150 is nice but a little small . I got one for the kayak only ..
I was a Penn guy but they are not good for they way i fish ..If your sitting your Ass in a chair chunking all day they are great ..If you dont dunk em they are great . Get hit by a wave and get dunked and your screwed .
Look at it as a investment . They hold their Value an will last a lifetime .Or keep on buying reels and killing them , then add up what you have killed and there is your VS
MIke
I Hate fishing bait so a VS was very nessacary . I cant tel you how many times i have reeled in a fish with reel fully submergerd..

Re: WTB spinning reel...
I ALWAYS SAID I WOULDNT GET A VS. BUT KILLING A REEL AT THE WRONG TIME SUCKS. I WENT WITH A 150 AND 200. IT WAS WELL WORTH IT ITS A HIT IN THE PIGGY BANK BUT YOU WONT BE BUYING ANOTHER REEL EVERY OTHER YEAR. THEY ARE TOUGH. IM HARD ON MY SURF REELS. SO FAR THE VS IS HOLDING UP TOO THE BEATING IM DISHING OUT.
