Hi Joe; What do you meen by an overhaul , I work on mitchells but mainly on Penns Spinfishers but not on anything made in China, If you bought China then you go to China lol!

hey lion the reel needs to be gone through it was my grandfathers reel and was made in da usa the bail does not open all the way and it needs to be greased and probably some other things......i was thinking about going bailess on this one...do u think that would be a good idea?

Hey Joe; Bail-less on that reel works fine, I fished one like that for a while bail-less but I like the 302 better for my like in reels. I can do your service for you and at no charge just pay the shipping back to you in fact I think I have the bail-less kit for that reel. Let my know what you want to do.

The Mitchell 306 is a very simple reel to work on. A schematic will help you keep track of what goes where when you reassemble the reel. You can get an HT100 or Smoothie drag for the reel and I would suggest a manual bail which eliminates 99% of the problems you will ever have with a 306. Good luck.
