Stripers Hit UK Coast! Empty Stripers Hit UK Coast!

Hot news on this side of the Atlantic is that some juvenile striped bass were spotted in a shoal of young native species!

Here's photographic proof that the striper has bridged the enormous stretch of open sea & successfully spawned in British waters...

At the bottom of this remarkable picture of a shoal of juveniles can clearly be seen what can only be two baby American striped bass. They are swimming in the company of small grey mullet, a young ballan wrasse & a pollock. Will it be long before great shoals of these magnificent fish swarm along the British coastline?

Upon netting the shoal, identification was confirmed..

It can only be a matter of time before the first mature specimen falls to an angler's lure!

Jim you have some great skills cool
How do they swim ? Are they like a crank bait and dive with a fast tail wiggle depending of the retrieve speed.
Let us know how they catch over there. And I hope those juvenile stripers find their way home safely   lol!

Thanks Charlie, they were fun to make.
They are slow-sinking, with a single, largish, weight under the 'chin'.
Without a lip, they wobble rather than wiggle but they sit nicely upright & look very 'fishy' to me in the water. I've designed them primarily to fish from my friend's small boat when we fish over the inshore reefs here, in the summer, for pollock & bass. He's a habitual worm-drowner, or fish-fillet-chucker, so I'm hoping to convert him to the joys of light tackle lure bashing!
Also, I wanted a lure I could drop into the holes in a reef, that would then fish slowly, rather than something that you need to crank at speed.. bump it on their noses, so to speak.
