First Atempt at Dyeing Feathers
I gave a go at dying some test feathers today.
I started with some crappy white strung hackle feathers.
I used "Fly Dye" in their Olive #2
I think they came out pretty good. What do you guys think.
I didn't want to screw up a $25. cape on the first try.
It seems it's easier to find white feathers and capes then find Olive ones.
I can lighten or darken the color by using more dye.

They do look good, Charlie, a very nice, even, olive colour. Gonna have to put some on some flies now!
If you can do a nice grizzly grey one.. I,m getting a bit thin up top, could do with a toupe!! Ha ha.

Re: First Atempt at Dyeing Feathers
After some experimenting I gave it a go with half a cape. Also why I was at it I figured what the hell, give dying a used bucktail a try.
They both came out real well. Here's the results. I'm going to due a darker olive on the next try.
The top picture has a different olive shade as I used the flash to take the picture.
