First Try Out front

I gave it a try at the Park yesterday and had some action.
I got my beach buggy pass yesterday for the park and then headed out front to give it a try for the first time since Sandy.

There is some good structure and the beach was in good shape to drive on.
Only downfall is they don't open the park till 8am and shut it down at 6pm
And only open from Gilkins to A7.

My nephew and I set up 3 rods with clams on the AM incoming and with in 3 hours we had 4 shorts.
Then at low tide I went to the back side and checked it out with no success.
The winds weren't cooperating blowing 20 to 30mph out of the S and SW.
6 to 7oz to hold but the wind put a huge bow in the lines.

We headed back out front for a few hours of the earning incoming tide and scored a few more shorts. The fish seemed to come in short lengths and short busts. 3 hits then nothing for a long while then a few more hits. Oh and I'm no dummy so when I could see it was a small fish on, I would let my nephew get the rod at the bite.
We ended the day with 11 shorts, nothing over 25in, but it felt great to see any bass hit the beach after the long off season. We didn't see any other fish beached but there fisherman were spread out pretty good and you couldn't see what others were catching.

I think in another 2 weeks it will be game on and I'll be hitting it again for the spring season.
I hope the big fish come in this spring.

Nice report charlie but they did make the hours 6:30 am now till 10 pm and allowing you from gillies to a23 just a23 to the inlet is still closed... Sure they will have the rest open by summer... Also i see i taught you well young fella =) catch em up
