Presentation Description:
A US Army Corps of Engineers Park Ranger will present a heavily visual program on the rich history, unique features and vigilant operation of the Cape Cod Canal. The presentation includes an 18-minute film entitled ‘Canal Story’. The film provides a broad overview of the early Canal building under August Belmont’s private company; the Corps of Engineers’ massive rehabilitation of the bankrupt waterway during the 1930’s; the present-day operations of the computerized marine traffic control system and the Canal’s extensive recreational opportunities. The film will be followed by a Q&A session.
