I have questions, but will wait for the use of stencil photos, as they might answer them. Your prep for paint is awe inspiring  :study:

yo vinny...
you can do it with one piece of frisket, fold page longways in half, sticky to sticky, then longways over plug :study:Minivin5 wrote:I have questions, but will wait for the use of stencil photos, as they might answer them. Your prep for paint is awe inspiring  :study:

That is true, but the tape slots allow the use of a variety of materials. I have access to the clear plastic sleeves through work so I just go with those mostly.
I do agree with you though and once you see the premise, you can see a lot of ways to modify this for fins, stripes, etc. The nice thing about the internet is that you present an idea and it often comes back to you with several improvement and modifications.

I'm way behind on this project, so far all I've done is cut out a blank, and I'm not going to be catching up soon. Leaving early Sunday am for a fishing trip to Maine. Going to be chasing the smallmouth around. So when I get back I'll have this one and Black Label's project to do. OOOOOhhhh the pressure !!!!

thanks guys.....i still need to get back in to the swing of things but thats what winter is for in my shop lol....
Although.....
It looked fairly simple at first, has turned out to be pretty tough,
one gill plate is pretty hard for some, then throw in two more, now try to
shadow all three plates The self adhesive template trick,
freed up my hands to pull out my hair

Okay.....
First off I have to thank Fatfingers Vince for sharing his template trick
I have recut all my stencils into double sides :you da man:
I learned a couple of other things while just doing the, " fatfingers shad",
:study: since the Bigrock challenge I have lowered my spraying pressure, allowing me
to experiment a little more with shadowing... :..............
A very tough challenge, that if attempted no doubt made you a better artist,
Thanks Vince for coming, and givin us mere mortals a push
Okay here is my fingers challenge

Wow Skippy!! Well done brother I attempted the second coat today and failed miserably :suspect: so I will do another attempt tomorrow. I would have never epoxied over my base coat, now it will be done every plug forward, I washed away all my mistakes today instead of throwing plugs away
Thank you Fatfingers for your efforts

Looks great Skippy, you sure work fast! I'm headed to the shop to just wire and seal tonight, for a quick paint tomorrow. Hmmmm, I think a nice foil job might just do the trick here, plus it will help me catch up!!!

Oh Yeah, Got it done!!! I went with the Big-O style as well because it so closely resembles that shad. I added some belly weight and a small shot in the tail. One slight change on this one was that I made a G-10 phenolic lip rather than stainless. The G-10 is so easy to work with and rigid for its diameter, I was able to whip one up in less than half the time of a stainless one. The foil work on this was very easy, and I embossed scales via netting from the outside. The gill work is all paint, done with stencils made from frisket. It's on the spinner and will be up before tonight's chat.
