a 1st for me

went to the lake tonight w/ new rod in hand, just was looking to really practice w/ my bait caster since its been a while since I have used one...... my buddy decided to try a topwater and on his 3rd cast got a lil guy, so I decide to put one on........ missed 2 fish out of complete excitement pulling the bait out of there mouths....... and got a 3rd to swallow it! its my 1st ever top water Large mouth bass!!!! caught it on a rapala X-rap frog pattern popper! its was so sick seeing that fish come completely out of the water and just destroy that bait!!!!

Hart racing and excitement like no other hits can give you.
One spring you need to come up north here when the bass and blues are both hitting top water pencils and poppers. You would love it. And you have an uncle that can put you on fish.

yes C.G. the top water action is awesome, Guess The reason I never caught one was cause of my fast retrieve........ I slowed it way down and much smaller rod tip jerks...... think its the key. would love to hit up the stripers and blues

its was a awesome thing, think I know what to do now to get them to eat a top water now........ that popper I used was a small one its only bout 2 inch in length.......

Yea man, I can still see the excitment in you eyes. Watching a top water get smashed will definitly get the blood flowing!!!!! Gonna have to make you a lil popper for the biggens to destroy!!!!!!!

thanx Jeff, I guess all this time I been throwing to big of a popper and working it to fast for them............ they have no problem smashing these lil poppers and prop baits we are using....... they are such a tiny bait but, hey thats what they want, thats what they will get!!!

topwater is by far the best. last spring i got into a blitz of blues and stripers and nothing beats seeing a fish explode on a popper that i made. caught about a dozen fish before i decided that my plug had enough and was gonna remove it to put it up on the fishing wall after the next cast. it was tore up no paint left and teeth marks all over it. well you can guess what happened next. plug hit the water, fish blew up on it, set the hook, fish jumped, line broke, fish swam away with my plug in his face. i was bummed, but hopefully someone will get a dozer orig. plug with alot of war wounds on it. topwater is my favorite type of fishing.

its deffinatley a excitting moment when the fish hits a top water plug or bait........ that sucks that ya lost the plug...... but bet that was a great feeling catching all those fish on your own plug? thanx for sharing Dozer

I love nailing bass on topwaters try some hula poppers they love em nice fish!
