Reel maintenance
Just got done doing my reel maintenance on all of my reels.
thought it could be an intresting topic......
how often do you perform it?
what tips or techniques do you use on your conventional/spinning reel?
what lube do you like to use?
what wear and tear do you look for?

Re: Reel maintenance
me, well I perform mine every 3 to 6 months or if I was in bad conditions w/ lots of spray or dunk a reel accidentally......much sooner
I make sure to hit all the moving parts, the line roller, bail spring, cranks........
also check my drag washers......
not to picky about my lube and grease I use, I will use up what comes w/ the reel first and then I move over to Quantum Hot Sauce Reel Oil/Grease.....
also wipe free and debris I find out from under the spools, I hate the sound of it (usually sand or built up salt) while reeling
also while storing my reels I always loosen my drags completly, put a lil bit wb40 on a rag and hit the guides on all my rods
and I remove all hardware leaders, hooks, lures/plugs............
I use to not perform any maintenance all, just wait till they broke or fell apart and buy a new ones or try and exchange it for a new one, but things have gotten much more expensive and economy sucking......... just would rather do what I can to prevent catastrophies while out playing......

Re: Reel maintenance
Damn Roc I'm ashamed to say if I do anything to my reels anymore is to just wash them off when they turn white from salt on them.
I've never done anything to my ZB reels. And only one time had to send my VS in cause of it being so stiff to reel and the line roller wore and had a grove in it.
