Here is a beautiful piece of wood turned into a swimmer, Curley Pyinma. Next is a Black Talon tribute Tiger Maple green fade to glass eye swimmer. The last one is of the Yellow Perch just before paint. Then, after. Douglas what is that purple stuff on the nose of the wooden unpainted bait. around the eye.. is that the wood grain or glazin spot putty to prep before you paint it.. Just curious. I think the blue stuff is glazing too...cause I use the heck out of that.. but I never see the purple stuff before.

Matt, The purple stuff is actually a brown/copper color epoxy plumbers putty. After drilling the eye holes I was not happy with the positioning (it looked a bit cross-eyed). I filled in the holes with this plumbers putty. 5 minutes later I was able to sand smooth, re-position and re-drill. I surely hope that the fish that inhales this thing, realizes the little bit of extra effort that went into this false offering of a dinner!!! LOL!

how long have you been air brushing? the detail in your paint is so awesome, I can sit and look at a pic and see more and more in it that I might have missed before..... how real some of these baits look is more like a taxidermists work, but even they do not catch the detail you do..... when I get my airbrush I am gonna be hitting you up for pointers for sure.

You are just on another level! I cant even conceive painting or carving like you. WOW!

Got to see a Rowhunter plug Sunday, I can honestly say that the photos don't do them justice, truly a work of art, beautiful !!!!!

Dude that is far out. You need to sign up for the Asbury Park Flea Mkt. That stuff will go big down here. If you ever need a moldmaker let me know.

Thanks for all your comments guys, they are appreciated. It's been nice to take a break from posting and spend a little time getting a few more ready for paint. As you may know I've been working on a couple different resin baits that are replicated thanks to a molding process. I thought it would be a time saver in duplicating detailed pieces, but as I've come to find out, I still spend a lot of time prepping for paint, a lot of time! Well, here are the latest, as you can see I've doubled up on a few. These eyes are resin just like the plugs. I made a mold of RTV, and when I've got extra resin during a pour I make a few eyes.
